I was using 9.04 for a while because it was working for me, I decided to upgrade yesterday using the Upgrade button on synaptic to 9.10.
Now when I boot i get an error message:
chroot: cannot execute /etc/apparmor/initramfs: No such file or directory
Mount of filesystem failed.
A maintenance shell will now be started.
CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and re-try
I want to try to fix the problem so I do not have to do fresh installation. And I would like to learn from this problem also.
Thanks in advance.

If you don't get answers it is probably because most people here 1) do not bother to troubleshoot obsolete or almost-obsolete releases and/or 2) they prefer a backup and a clean install.
Are you aware that your system will carry on with Grub 1, even if you manage to upgrade Ubuntu to 9.10?

Thanks... I was afraid it will come to that. I am actually used to grub 1. I waited for long because 9.04 worked for me and i didn't want to mess it up, but here I am.
