Hi, I'm an undergraduate anthropology student writing a dissertation on open source software and conducting part of my research in an online setting. I am discussing a number of topics, one of which is the way in which people conceive of online environments as 'places'. Examples are "chat rooms", "forums" or even your "wall" on Facebook. Of particular interest to me are forums such as these, which form the backbone of Linux's after-care system, and IRC-style real time chatting. However, any and all contributions would be welcome. If you find this topic interesting, want to participate in my research or even just have another example, I would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend you obfuscate your e-mail address in some way, lest the spam spiders molest your account with untold levels of junk.

Oh, that's a really good point. Thanks, I'll fix that up right away.
