Could you mount the CD after you log into Ubuntu 9.04?
If not maybe the CD rom has some problem.

It will also give you an option to install a new OS alongside with existing OS.

If you can boot the 9.04 CD and not the 10.10 CD, I think this indicates a bad 10.10 CD.

This can be cause by either a damaged ISO file, or a bad burn of a good ISO file.

My I suggest re-downloading the ISO using a bit torrent client. Bit torrent downloads are error checked.

Once you have the new ISO downloaded, burn the CD using the 'Burn from an ISO Image' option, and burn it at the slowest speed you can.

Between these two steps, you should get a usable/bootable CD.

Thanks for the replies! but I figured it out. I replaced the CD drive and it worked.
