Ubuntu 10.10 very sluggish

Hello,

I am about to give up on Linux all together. This ubuntu 10.10 product so slow. I have a quad core with 8gb of memory and the gui is not very responsive. I upgraded from 10.04LTS to 10.10LTS and I noticed the sluggishness.

can someone give me some advise how to make my ubuntu peppy?

That is odd, I seem to have that problem, but with windows :confused: is everything updated cuz it may be the drivers have you also tried other distro's? what version are you running? 32 or 64 bit? sorry i was out of town..your recommendation fixed the issue.after reboot i noticed ubuntu runs most smoothly.. :-)

Make sure the graphics driver components are installed correctly.
