ubuntu installation

i kept ubuntu cd into my laptop and then i restart my lap but it doesnt show anything ,again it shows my windows xp,i need to install ubuntu and i dont want delete xp,plz help me.

Make sure the CD is correctly burnt, and that your laptop/BIOS is set up to boot from CD. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootFromCD
