"I am tryiong to install the lastfm player on my kubuntu breezy, but nothing work I keep on getting a crash. I figures that I am probably not the only one that uses lastfm so I am just wondering if anyone has it working and how they did it?

do you specifically want to use the last.fm player, or do you just want to be able to report your usage to last.fm? several applications, like rhythmbox and listen, have last.fm capabilities.

if you are dead set on the last.fm player, then stick with it, but check out the support forums...

I have the player on my machine and it works perfectly, but I use Gnome. Where are you crashing out, on the install or run? What message(s) do you get?

Here's a Gnome alternative (uses Gtk so it looks nicer as well). Does the same thing:

Change the sound output to OSS rather than ALSA. Fixed it for me.

Click the settings icon (spanner) then click settings, then under the sound section, change it to OSS.

Can't install the Gnome version on dapper, ./configure stops here:

checking for LASTEXIT... configure: error: Package requirements (gconf-2.0 gdk-pixbuf-2.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.6 gstreamer-0.10 >= 0.10.0 gstreamer-base-0.10 gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 >= 0.10.0) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively you may set the LASTEXIT_CFLAGS and LASTEXIT_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

I should have everything it mentions there...but it doesn't think I do.

You can find a deb package for Dapper here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=149018&highlight=last-exit

It works for me, except for the sound being very choppy. I'm not sure if it's a bug or just a problem with me.
