Do you have any Google Video bookmarked because they are so good?

If so please tell us about them here?

[edit:] I should have been more clear. Google changing their Google Video site; from the 29th of April you will no longer be able to view any of the uploaded videos, though you can still download them until the 14th of May.

This is why I started this thread, so any of us who want to can add good vid's to our collection before it is too late.

I started another thread on this topic where people can discuss it, it is here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1731240

Lets keep this thread just for Video's not crapping on about Google?

[edit2:] The "Video Download Helper" Firefox Add-on is good.

I blocked its cookies & turned off one in its preferences & it still works fine:

I'm guessing they want "GOOGLE videos" because of this:

Dear Google Video User,

Later this month, hosted video content on Google Video will no longer be available for playback. Google Video stopped taking uploads in May 2009 and now we’re removing the remaining hosted content. We've always maintained that the strength of Google Video is its ability to let people search videos from across the web, regardless of where those videos are hosted. And this move will enable us to focus on developing these technologies further to the benefit of searchers worldwide.

On April 29, 2011, videos that have been uploaded to Google Video will no longer be available for playback. We’ve added a Download button to the video status page, so you can download any video content you want to save. If you don’t want to download your content, you don’t need to do anything. (The Download feature will be disabled after May 13, 2011.)

We encourage you to move to your content to YouTube if you haven’t done so already. YouTube offers many video hosting options including the ability to share your videos privately or in an unlisted manner. To learn more go here.

Here’s how to download your videos:

Go to the Video Status page.
To download a video to your computer, click the Download Video link located on the right side of each of your videos in the Actions column.

Once a video has been downloaded, “Already Downloaded” will appear next to the Download Video link.

If you have many videos on Google Video, you may need to use the paging controls located on the bottom right of the page to access them all.

Please note: This download option will be available through May 13, 2011.

Here is the legendary video I uploaded:

@ikt: YES. I started a thread earlier on that subject:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1731240

That's why I'm really only after Google Video's in this thread, not that it really matters I guess...

A good vid is a good vid, no matter where it comes from. :)

I can add a few:

"The Code Linux", is worth a look, though it is poor quality in that it is not dubbed where it should be sometimes. It mainly stars Linus, though other luminaries appear as well:

"Charlie Rose - Lisa Randall / Edward O. Wilson" Interesting physics:

"Captain Quantum" Physics wave/particle:

"Jill Bolte Taylor's stroke of insight", this is a TED talk, I just stuck it in here for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:

"The World According to Monsanto" is an extremely well done documentary that illustrates some of the evil effects that this corporation is having world wide:

"Sex Drugs & Democracy, in the Netherlands":

"Food Production & Population Growth; Daniel Quinn & Alan D. Thornhill, Ph.D. (Part 1 of 2):

It just occurred to me (yes, I know, sharp as a bowling ball) that a number of the documentaries listed at spiralinear.org are Google vid's, so here is the link for those that are interested one way or another:

http://spiralinear.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30

Its worth having a look through the above linked thread as there are more doco's listed that I haven't added to the list yet.

I put some hours in today on our documentaries list over at spiralinear.org , they now have About & Watch links wherever possible. I'll finish off adding dates to those I've given a miss to today, tomorrow. Then I'll start adding some from here & others from elsewhere.

I found quite a number of those on our list that were Google Vid's could be viewed elsewhere which is helpful, particularly for those that don't want to download these vids.

This makes me sad. There were a lot of good educational films on there. I hope something decent will take its place.

Yes, I found that great site yesterday & have linked some of spiralinear's doco's to it.

The good news is that it seems that Google have lifted the limit on Youtube vid's. So they can now be full length. Which makes good sense.

Under those circumstances I can see why they are closing the Google Video site. Why run two sites when you can run one?

I expect that at least the most valuable vid's from Google Video, will be uploaded to Youtube before too long.
