I have two sata hard drives with windows 7 on the first one. the second hard drive is formatted in ntfs and has some data on it. so i was thinking of repartitioning the 2nd hard drive and installing ubuntu onto the new partition. will i run into any pitfalls going this route and what will i need to do if i ever need to remove ubuntu? also, will ubuntu overwrite windows 7's bootloader and use its own?

please advise and thank you in advance.

Use windows to repartition the second drive.

If you want to remove ubuntu, just repartition it again

Yes, grub will overwrite the windows boot loader

good luck :D

btw, you can use the windows bootloader to launch ubuntu, but its not recommended.
