Non-Windows machines can still be infected with Java bots.

Don't act all superior because one day you might be infected...

Or not, the more well written it is the more likely it is you won't even realize until something gets stolen or you get a warning from your ISP.

The JAVA Bots can only infect JAVA if it's installed, and the JAVA must only infect other JAVA, as Linux doesn't execute any windows apps unless you use WINE. (Make sure to always remove your Z directory after installing wine, it's mainly the reason why these silly things get through.)

In a another thread on this forum there was a link to an article from 2007,
which claimed that up to a quarter of computers on the Internet might be
infected by Trojans and be thus be a part of botnets. Apparently this is
largely because pirated software often comes bundled with your favourite
Trojan pre-installed...
I'm afraid this is just another reason to stay away from pirated software.
The pirates out there don't “share” pirated software to be nice, but to make money.

I'll post the link again, because I think it deserves a second look.

nearly everybody hear knows that linux can prevent viruses from infecting our machine due to the fact that most viruses are written for windows, but linux CANNOT prevent stupidity, the best protection you have is your self, do not depend on neither linux nor anti virus, depend on your good decisions

I agree that the best defence is oneself. One can easily use Windows without viruses, assuming they know not to do anything that would unduly endanger their computer.
