Because I had an old toshiba that had to take up two slots of USBs, but no matter what system I plugged it into (unless it was windows), the system couldn't properly erase the disks in it. Burning was restricted to Windows, linux couldn't do it for whatever reason. Booting from the external CD-ROM Drive made linux shout "CANNOT USE DRIVE - MUST BE ROOT - Kernel Panic!"
