I'm interested in writing an application that communicates via USB with a custom USB device (PIC Microcontroller) but don't know where to start. I have a lot of books but none of them with good explanation.

Actually the application is very simple, sends blocks of data to the device and that's all. Could anyone help? With info, good book... something?

Thanks

Check out libusb (http://libusb.org). It's pretty simple to use and well documented. Use libusb-1.0, not the old libusb-0.1.

There are some links to very helpful web pages in another thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1486025&highlight=USB

Make sure to read all of the posts before following the links.
