I am new to ubuntu and am facing some problem installing my nvidia graphic card driver.
i have already tried synaptic package manager to install nvidia-glx-new but it gives an error asking for ubuntu OS cd/dvd.
even tried system->harware driver to install them but it gets stuck every time.
can anyone please help??

Have you tried going to your system settings and going to additional drivers. Then click the recommended one and activate.

Dasti, please go to System (in top left corner of your desktop), there find Administration, there find Hardware drivers. I guess that should be the right place.
