Trying to install ubunto 10.10 on Dell dimension 4700 desktop. The first time I did a clean install it finished then rebooted. Great I thought I was done but Ubuntu never booted up. I thought ok I'll reformat and start over, installed again but now ir reaches the point where I input my user name, time and date etc... then it continues to install then reboots and starts over again and again.... I tried several clean installs and I get the same thing except once it froze.

Hi, welcome to the fora.

There can be many reasons for random reboots. First I would check the memory: When booting the CD you will see the option of a memory test - does this give any indication of errors?

It might take quite some time.

How much memory is in the machine, by the way?

Are you trying to install UBuntu 10.10/64-bit or 32-bit ?
