Hello World!

I'd like to keep Evolution as my e-mail client, task manager and what not, but apparently 2.28.1 refuses to fetch live.com messages, which is crucial for me, so I was wondering if 3.0.0 would solve that problem on Karmic.

Now, I wouldn't wonder something like that, if I could have checked already, but I can't install 3.0.0 (http://projects.gnome.org/evolution/download.shtml) for some reason.

configure: error: Package requirements (gio-2.0 >= 2.28
cairo-gobject
gtk+-3.0 >= 3.0.2
gail-3.0 >= 3.0.2
unique-3.0 >= 2.90.4
gconf-2.0 >= 2.0.0
libxml-2.0 >= 2.7.3
shared-mime-info >= 0.22
gnome-desktop-3.0 >= 2.91.3) were not met:

Requested 'gio-2.0 >= 2.28' but version of GIO is 2.22.3
No package 'cairo-gobject' found
No package 'gtk+-3.0' found
No package 'gail-3.0' found
No package 'unique-3.0' found
No package 'gconf-2.0' found
No package 'libxml-2.0' found
No package 'gnome-desktop-3.0' found
And when I try searching for package gio2.28, i can't find it anywhere... :(

Any suggestions?

P.S. Full log in attachment

THANKS

Wow it seems it needs the latest Gnome shell or unity to work :-)

Evolution is nice especially for people switchign from Outlook. However you will find same functionality in Thunderbird. I was using evolution for quite some time, until i switched it. I switched because like you i found some thing are just missing in it.
