Hi, im trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on a dell precision m2400.
The problem is that it goes into the "ubuntu" logo and it reads the cd... and nothing happens, it never leaves that screen.
Also the keyboard is unresponsive.

Help please.

Have you tried the "TRY Ubuntu" first to see if the same happens? Also how are you trying to install and did you verify the MD5sum on the download?

Probably need to boot with noapic, this needs to be entered on the boot line in the splash screen.

I have used the cd to install linux in another machine.
I have tried the "try ubuntu first" option and nothing. Same thing: ubuntu logo is there and the cd keeps playing. Eventually is just the logolike it is loading something and the cd stops.

matt-fender's link is a good one, but if you have any trouble with it. Unetbootin is also very good.
Using UNetbootin to create a Live Linux USB (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/using-unetbootin-to-create-a-live-usb-linux/)
