2008 Dell Mini 9 Ubuntu 10.04

Hey Guys I am posting this question in the community cafe for this one reason I know there will be more detailed responses and less technical ones.

I have a Dell Mini 9 from 2008. It has Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on it 4GB SSD and 1GB ram. Original Atom Processor.

I need to Update the netbook to 10.04 LTS. Don't worry I will be doing a clean install but I would like to know if I should be worried about Hardware issues. This is my mothers computer so it needs to just work.

Actually you can directly upgrade to the new LTS by using.... dist upgrade i believe.... Check this link. Direct upgrade!

none..i ran 10.04 & 10.10 with no problems on a mini 9.

16gb ssd & 2gb ram...atom.

You cannot actually do a dist upgrade with 8.04 - 10.04 because it creates major error and requires more HD space than 4GBs. So thats not happening. Please read my post. If you read it you would have seen that I am really doing a hard install but want your experiences with hardware.

Ah okay that makes sense. Didnt see the SSD size there. Well I have never never never ever had any hardware that worked with a previous edition of ubuntu and not work with the most current.

Except for Sparc Processors, Ubuntu only released Sparc support for 10.04.... But you wont have any issues

I am quite aware. Really Looking for hardware incompatibilities. The Version of 8.04 LTS was OEM from DELL so I just need to make sure its going to work.

writing this from a Dell vostro A90 (small business version of the mini 9 w/ same hardware and running ubuntu 10.04 perfectly with the original Atom proc / 8Gb ssd / 1 Gb ram using a 16 Gb SD card to keep most data on. It came with Dell's idea of Ubuntu which I (nearly) immediately replaced with 8.04 which, except for a slight tweek required to get the sound working, worked very nicely. I did a fresh install of 10.04 about 3 weeks after release and have, to date, had no issues at all with it.
