View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to install and run 10.10 ???

I just downloaded Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell Windows XP Pro machine. I found the file in my download folder and also moved it to a CD-ROM, but now I can't do anything with it. Windows won't open it and it won't open itself so it's fairly useless just sitting there.

No instructions that I can find so how do I get Ubunto to open and work on my machine??? So far, it's more enigmatic than Windows!

Thanks for any help.

Frank

The link to instructions matt-fender posted are good.

The difference is that you do not copy the ISO to a CD or USB flash drive. But you extract it so it makes the CD/USB bootable and has all the files. It is not just the ISO on a CD as one file.

Matt and Oldfred... Thanks for the clue of scrolling down. Obviously I needed it, and it worked. I can now boot Ubuntu from the CD.

Many Thanks!
