I am new to Ubuntu I have installed version 10.10.I do not like the boot splash screen and have searched the web on how to change it and found
xsplash background settings but it is not changing the background.I have searched several forums and saw suggestions on how to change it but they also do not change it.any help on this will be appreciated

Don't think xsplash has been used in Ubuntu for some time, after 9.10, it's been plymouth.

The link appears to be for changing the log on screen.I have already done that. I want to know how to change the boot splash screen before the logon screen appears

Look into Grub Customizer. This is a really great app to do just that.

Yeah, it seems to be a nice tool, but you can't change the Plymouth boot splash with it.
