When I boot instead of going into ubuntu 10.10 maverick black screen with writing comes up.
*Starting PostgreSQL 8.4 database server
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d' use the service (eight) utility, e.g service s20acpid start

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the start (eight) utility e.g. start S20acipd start: Unknown job: S20acipd

Then same for S20crom S20dbus
speech-dispatcher disabled; edit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher
* PulseAudio configured for per-user sessions
saned disabled; edit /etc/default/saned
* Enabling additional executable binary formats binfmt-support [OK]
* Starting web server apache2 [OK]
* Checking battery state... [OK]
* Starting TiMidity++ ALSA midi emulation... [OK]

Then just a blinking cursor
