Nvidia 9500 + ubuntu 10.10 - screen resolution lowered after update

I updated my 10.10 ubuntu system -- and now my resolution is stuck at a max of 1360x768

Before the upgrade it was much higher (I think 1600 x ??)

...
So far:
-- I tried reinstalling the nvidia driver. No change
-- I reinstalled x.org and associated files. No change
-- I tried a different driver. No change

...

What are some approaches to getting back my nice high resolution?

I have the same problem although I dont have an Nvidia card. I dont know what update caused it but its very annoying now! Can anyone help??

edit: oops turns out my vga cable wasnt inserted into the monitor properly so only a few resolutions were showing up. I had no idea that would happen! Maybe you could check your cable too xigen?
