View Full Version : [ubuntu] Turning off laptop lcd screen (for good)

April 8th, 2011, 11:58 PM
Hey all. I've been using Ubuntu for all my work ever since Windows died on me one too many times and I lost a LOT of stuff.

Anyway, my need is this: I want to be able to assign a key to turn off my laptop lcd screen and lock it off, so that it won't turn back on when I move the mouse and/or type. I want it to stay off until I hit another key. I want to do this so that I may type in private even when I am in a crowded room. I am rather surprised more people haven't found a need for this.

Before, I was using the Star Wars font of Aurebesh (I am a huge geek and can read it perfectly) but explaining what that font is is just as annoying as explaining what I am working on.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks. Ubuntu FTW.
