I was glad to see this on Yahoo. Clearly, I would like to see more in-depth reporting, but I like how this hits especially when economic times are tough giving people pause to consider free alternatives.

It's not just Yahoo actually. CNET News has had foss in random dabs:

(Ubuntu) http://news.cnet.com/1770-5_3-0.html?query=ubuntu&tag=srch&searchtype=news (Last one was in 2008.)

(Fedora) http://news.cnet.com/1770-5_3-0.html?query=Fedora&tag=srch&searchtype=news (Also 2008.)

(Debian) http://news.cnet.com/1770-5_3-0.html?query=Debian&tag=srch&searchtype=news (2001)

(CamStudio) http://news.cnet.com/1770-5_3-0.html?query=CamStudio&tag=srch&searchtype=news (2007)

and so forth. You'd be amazed what a little search box can find.

Just saying that is was on Yahoo's front page today. Not an archived article. I just wish the mainstream would report on it a bit more too...however, that would kill any remaining "underground" vibe that Linux had/has.

I think "mainstream" media will talk about FOSS in a positive light when Ubuntu or LibreOffice produce hip flashy Apple-esque ads and give $$$$ to said media companies to broadcast/print them. In other words, no time soon.
