View Full Version : [ubuntu] loading screen stuck

hello everyone,
i am new to ubuntu
please help me here
i've downloaded and installed ubuntu using wubi previously and it is working absolutly fine
i want to install it i\on my other desktop/laptop as well
so i downloaded an iso from ubuntu's official site and made a usb boot using ubuntu
but i've found that the installation doesn't even begin at some of my desktop's
though it is working fine on others
ubuntu version is 10.10
the installation gets stuck on the loading screen with 5 dots
nothing happens after that i've been patient enough for about 3 hrs but all in vein
i've noticed others facing similar problem too
kindly help me out
please keep in mind that i am not familiar with the ubuntu commands so please suggest me some method with least commands

i have noticed that it is working fine on ati graphic cards where as it gets stuck on nvidia card laptops/desktops

Try choosing nomodeset, and select "Try Ubuntu"... directions are here for nomodeset...

If it doesn't work, you need to give some more computer specs.
