Hey everyone, I am new to linux and decided to start using it on an old laptop of mine. I recently bought a wireless card and i have downloaded the driver i need to install for it. However, I have no clue how to install it. I have searched for a guide and all of the files that came with the download, but can't figure it out. Is there a specific way that drivers are installed in general? Or are they all unique? If I could get a basic background idea of how they work, then perhaps I could figure it out.

Thanks.

What wireless card do you have? Open a terminal and post the output of lspci. This will list your hardware including your wireless card?
Can you connect to the internet via a wired connection?
What driver did you download? Do you have a link to it?

And welcome to the Ubuntu forums!
