View Full Version : [gnome] GNOME Window Darkening Behavior (how to turn it off?)

GNOME has a feature where it darkens windows when the program is hung up on a calculation (I think this is the condition under which it darkens anyway.)

Not sure what this feature is, but I want to turn it off. Don't know how to go about this, as I don't even know what the feature is called. Anyone know how to turn it off?

(It tends to darken a program I use when the program is actually not getting hung up in any appreciable way.)

Thank you

I don't know if that feature is also present in Metacity, but for Compiz there is a respective option for its "Fading Windows" plugin:
"System -> Preferences -> CompizConfig Settings Manager -> Effects -> Fading Windows -> "Dim Unresponsive Windows".

Greetings.

Greetings.

I have gnome windows that go dark [aka, "unresponsive"] for reasons that I don't understand. A common culprit is the file manager (nautilus?) when I open the $HOME/Pictures folder. Can anyone tell me why the file manager might go "unresponsive"?
