With all the great new re-branding Ubuntu has been through this site looks like a blast from the past.

Is it time for a new make over ?

A Unity styled, forum navigation bar would really make everyone happeh

If you really want the new look right now use stylish: http://userstyles.org/styles/browse/all/ubuntuforums.org ... more specifically: http://userstyles.org/styles/40915/ubuntu-forums-new-theme

I don't really mind, but for a matter of consistency I don't see why not change it to the new look. Ubuntu has been purple for almost a year.

Cheers

The forums will eventually get a change - at the same time as the vbulletin software is updated.

Do we get to keep the beans and coffee mugs? :D

I think its time to switch to SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org/)! ;)

I believe they will remain - possibly look slightly different - I must say here that it's some time since I saw the mockup.

I think its time to switch ...The software discussion has happened so many times it deserves to be a recurring topic ...

Oh sorry, im not around these boards terribly often. But sure, a recurring topic would be cool.

That's not too far off the new theme, I suppose ;)

I use the stylish theme Ubuntu Forums Dark (tjW), by tjwoosta. I use others by TJ on other forums & sites also.

I like the dark. :)

ubuntu.com is so cool but ubuntuforums.org looks really different from it! Not sure if ubuntu.com is still using Plone but does feel like it.

Looking on netcraft it seems they are using python, not sure Django/Plone?

Wasn't there a planned theme change for the forums?, I'm sure I read that somewhere a while back.

Technoviking made a blog post about it a while back.

To those who don't want to go looking, here's a sample of what it looked like last time I checked

Even better, they can use java3d for a simulated unity experience in the forums. Those without a 3d card could fallback to ubuntuforums classic.

Seriously, I hope they don't retheme it using purple. The light brown theme is way more pleasing to the eye than a vivid purple. Light purple wold make me think of rainbows and unicorns.

It would be nice if everyone can select their own theme one day on client side!:D

I don't care about colors so long as we keep it simple. I want Ubuntu forums to be something like Google main page, plain and simple. I would hate it if I have to come here one day and find a bunch flash and such.
