The only reference I found to something similar was this :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=588755

When working with specific programs (OpenOffice and Lokalize) I sometimes get a black screen, that automatically recovers (within a few seconds) back to act like nothing happend.

I had this since 9.10 (if i recall correctly) and back in those day's it sometimes crashed my computer. the craching stopped with 10.4, but the blackouts stayed. Now on 10.10 and when using Lokalize it does not happen so often, but when using OpenOffice it still is quite often.

I was not able to find anything in Messages, System, Xlog for that specific time.

I have:
Linux version 2.6.35-28-generic (buildd@allspice) (gcc version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5) ) #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 1 14:39:03 UTC 2011
nVidia driver Linux-x86_64 260.19.06
GeForce 7300 GT vbios 05.73.22.61.00
resolution 2648x1024 pixels (2 screens, TwinView)
And something interesting : Recovered GPU errors: 4
I can not give an accurate count of GPU errors related to this problem. I'll try to monitor this better.
