I recently upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty and then to Karmic.
The move to Jaunty went without a hitch, and at first blush so did the move to Karmic. However, after changing my display settings and being prompted to reboot I keep getting the error 'could not access pid for nmbd'.
I have tried going through what is described in this post, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1587068, without success and a number of other things.
I am somewhat comfortable with Ubuntu and the terminal, I just need somebody who has a greater understanding of the ins and outs of when Linux is loading.
So I am ready to pull my hair out, any help would be appreciated.
