Hi, my Mom's computer can't boot from cd or usb, so I tried for three or four hours yesterday to get PLoP Boot Manager working, and I keep getting stuck at the part where you type in plpbtldr and it's supposed to spit out plpbtldr.bin or something, and it won't, it keeps saying plpbt.bin is fragmented. I used defraggler to defragment it, and it says it's no longer fragmented. I try the plpbtldr process again, and it's still saying plpbt.bin is fragmented.

What do I do to fix this. I really need to get Ubuntu 10.10 installed on this computer.

Hey -- did you ever get plop to work for you?
I just use the ISO that comes with plop to burn a boot CD,
boot from that, and select what I want to boot from (USB) as it comes.
It loads the USB driver and so can then access the USB drive.

My problem is that it works the first time, but not the second --
I think ubuntu is changed in some way after booting that it doesn't
work the second time, i.e. it has nothing to do with plop.

If you're booting a live USB image, tthat works fine --
especially if you get a flash drive with a r/o switch on it.
Kanguru I think has the best design, where the switch is very accessible,
and the drives come in a variety of sizes.

Oh, I guess I forgot to mark as solved. I was typing something wrong, and reading the manual wrong. The names are VERY EXACT.
