Hi guys. I´ve problems on trying to install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS i386 on an AMD64 platform. I downloaded the AMD64 version and works perfectly, until I tried to install the Iseries software from IBM (wich only has the 32bit release). So now I started to install the 8.04 32 bit in my 64 bit platform (after serveral investigations on google to see if its possible, and I found it is) but I get continuos messages on errors while the installation is running.

I already being with these messages for around 1.5 hrs, and still running.

My question ¿Is this situation normal and will have to wait more until all the errors come out?

Or is there another way to recompile the iseries file to work on 64bit platform.

Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome to UF

Before you go through too much trouble. You may want to know that support for 8.04 ends next month. It will be obsolete.

I suggest installing 10.04 LTS or 10.10. You can download them here.
