View Full Version : [ubuntu] KDE over regular Ubuntu

I've been having issues with kubuntu because it's a little bit different than Ubuntu other than the fact that it's KDE and Ubuntu is GNOME. I was just wondering if it were possible to install KDE over a regular install of Ubuntu, I'd try it myself, but I don't have it installed at the moment, I've got kubuntu. Thanks.

If you want to install just KDE alongside Gnome to regular Ubuntu, you have the choice between the metapackages "kde" and "kde-base":

If you want to remove the Gnome parts of regular Ubuntu and install the Kubuntu parts instead, run the first stated set of commands:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde
