View Full Version : [ubuntu] (initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

When I install/run a demo on my Laptop, it works perfectly fine. Though when I go into my desktop, it results in the following error:

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

It's autobooting off the same boot disk, I've md5'd the iso to check if it's correct but no joy.

Any help please?

Thanks.

It's the 64bit Desktop version. I didn't install it on the Laptop, just ran the Demo.

Any idea? :(

Is it because my motherboard, xfx geforce 8300 does not support ubuntu?

What version are you trying to install? Are you using a CD or a usb stick?

I'm having the same problem installing Maverick on the HP Slate: On this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1603301)

Lucid and Natty install fine though. It appears to have something to do with the fact that the slate has USB 3.0. Perhaps your desktop has USB 3.0 and this is your problem as well (though, probably not if you're installing from the CD).
