View Full Version : [ubuntu] Post-installation trouble

Hi there,
I recently had to wipe my hard drive and as a result had to re-install ubuntu.

I have been using the OS for a few months now and was quite comfortable with what I knew and had picked up, but following the recent install things are different.

Nothing substantial but all the little things are starting to get on my nerves a little and I am unsure as to the cause.

For example, I first tried to mount my network shares, I had done this before and copied my steps to the letter, yet every time I try to mount anything I get errors or the credentials I enter return as wrong regardless.

Software was not available in the software centre that was before and I had to manually add the repositories and download, trying to change the image on my login screen and it won't accept any images I try to use. There are entire folders missing, for example /usr/share/images/Grub is not there at all.

Wondering if I somehow had a 'bad' install or maybe because I chose to download the updates while it installed that maybe it skipped some repositories or files that it thought were outdated?

I am unsure, but can you advise on anything? Thanks
