View Full Version : [gnome] Drives are 'Places' menu are opened with VLC by default

March 25th, 2011, 01:55 AM
Whenever I go to one of my drives under the 'Places' menu, gnome runs vlc player and tries to open the drive with it somehow. This has been happening since I mounted an .iso and opened a dvd with vlc. Obviously, the respective .iso began to be shown under the 'Places' menu. Otherwise, when I try to enter any windows drive from the Desktop (the icon appears, as you probably know, after the drive is mounted), I can begin to browse it normally.

Any suggestions to how I can change the 'default program' for this?

The way you changed it in the first place. = ) Open Nautilus, right-click a folder, and select Open With Other Application, then select Nautilus. = )

There's a checkbox to make the application you select the default, and it's always checked by default. Next time you open a location with VLC, just uncheck the box.

Yeah, it did work :) It was easy. The problem is that I really haven't changed it myself. It changed automatically, after I opened a 'disc' in vlc. Weird :)
Anyway, thanks.
