I'm quite new to Linux so I apologize.
I'm trying to add the EXIF functions to PHP on a standard LAMP setup that comes with Ubuntu Server 10.10.
How do I accomplish this? I read that you have to recompile PHP with an additional argument. Will this in no way conflict with the current LAMP setup? Shouldn't I uninstall the LAMP package and reinstall the Apache, MySQL and PHP5 packages seperately?
Also how do I know that there are no other arguments I should enable when compiling? Perhaps functions that I take for granted as being there will not be in a default compile?
Is there some 'man' page or accepted documentation for source code that will outline all of this?
