View Full Version : OpenDocument Plug-In Ready For Micro$oft Office

Last week, the OpenDocument Format (ODF) had two major successes. First and foremost, it was approved by ISO to become an international standard, which means that it beat Microsoft's OpenXML in the race to standardization. Second, OpenDocument Foundation, Inc. has finished its creation of an ODF plug-in for Microsoft Office. With the ODF Plugin, Office users can save their documents in the ODF format from the File menu just like any other doc type.

In response to the ODF Plugin's announcement, Jason Matusow, Microsoft's director of standards affairs, claimed that the company was in support of document interoperability. "Richness of competitive choices in the market is good for our customers and for the industry as a whole," Matusow said.

I really get tired of reading company statements like this, abstract BS that doesn't say anything. :-({|=

Where is the download link for this ODF plugin?
As far as I know, it has not been released to the public yet. I would keep an eye on the project page for OpenOpenOffice (http://sourceforge.net/projects/openopenoffice/) [O3] for updates and downloads. You can also access the home page for O3 here. (http://o3.phase-n.com/)
