View Full Version : [ubuntu] Closing lid blanks screen, can't log back in (fluxbox)

OK, so basically I've got Meerkat running on an IBM ThinkPad R52 and I'm trying to get fluxbox configured on it, since gnome can be a little much for it resource-wise.

Here's the problem:
When I close the lid while logged into fluxbox, the screen is blank when I reopen it and I can't un-blank it. It's not off, just blank. I installed the xfce4 power manager and it says that when the lid is closed on AC power, it will do nothing - when I close the lid, it still blanks. I've tried xset s off, xset -dpms, and several other suggestions, none of which have worked.

A possibly related problem:
When I'm using GNOME, the gnome power manager says that when the laptop lid is closed on AC power, it should do nothing. However, when I close it, the laptop goes to sleep.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

OK, so I "solved" this problem by taking Meerkat out of the equation and just using Lucid. Everything seems to work just fine there, so I guess I'll just stick with that for a while.
