Hello,

I'm new to Ubuntu. Was using opensuse before this.

I am experiencing sluggishness on 10.10 with the nvidia driver 2.60.19.06. I updated the system to the newest packages, so it must be up to date.

The problem arises directly after logging in. Compiz is sluggish and animations stutter. This is how I overcome it every time:

I turn on the computer and wait for the login screen. I press ctrl+alt+F1 and login to tty. enter rm -r .compiz/. Stay logged in here and go back to ctrl+alt+F7. The GDM screen says I'm already logged in. I enter the password and most of the time this works, and returns compiz to it's normal speed.

Can you help me overcome this so it will not happen again? Would be much appreciated.

Thank you!
