Long story short I set up a Kubuntu system for my Mom and shipped it to her. Within 8 hours she modified the desktop resolution in such a way only 1/4 of the screen shows the rest is "off of the monitor somewhere"

I have remote ssh CLI access only.

How can I set her resolution back to 1440x900 without resetting the whole desktop environment. FYI there is no xorg.conf and I cant figure out where kde4 keeps this info.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

use xrandr. I think it works via SSH.

LOL:D I installed Ubuntu also for my mom.

Use "xrandr" therefore, see this guide:
