I have successfully installed 10.10 on an USB stick connected to a Dell laptop. After logging in i installed Chrome and configured it.
When I reboot the Chrome installation is gone. Shouldn´t it have been installed in the USB file system??? Gone with the wind...

On the USB - is it:
1) The LiveUSB without persistence
2) The LiveUSB with persistence
3) Complete install from a CD onto the USB
If it is #1, I know anything you load will be lost.

p.s. I use type #3 - a complete 3 partition install on a USB stick. It is more work at first, but I loaded LibreOffice and Chrome on it, as well as about 7 hours of music and a few Simpsons episodes. I call this Ubuntu-On-A-Stick!

The easiest and most compact way to install chrome on a stick is to install using Startup Disk Creator from the Live CD or extracting the Windows version of usb-creator from the Ubuntu iso.
I prefer a Full install similar to what Hedgehog uses but it takes a larger thumb drive.
You could also add a casper-rw partition to your current drive.

Good point! You do need more space for a full install. 8 gig works, 16 gig is very comfortable to use (Room for Music and such).
