View Full Version : [ubuntu] Create shorcut of windows folder

March 20th, 2011, 05:32 AM
Hi there,
I'm using two OS in parallel, and all of my data are stored in partition D. I want to create a shorcut to a specific folder inside it, e.x: D:/path/to/folder and put it in the Ubuntu Desktop (~/Desktop). Can anyone help me, please!!

Such questions are better posted in the absolute beginners forum.

To create a softlink, you can drag the directory/file to the destination while holding Ctrl+Shift pressed. A second method is to right-click, then select "Make link", then move the resulting link to the desired location.

But each time I start Ubuntu Linux, I still need to handly mount the D drive before using the soft link.

That is to be solved by mounting the windows partition permanently in the file system. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Fstab
