So I have used Ubuntu for months now on my laptop and I thought it would be a good idea to install Ubuntu on my old computer. After it installs it won't work. The console will, however. A friend of mine also has the same problem. He thinks that it's because both of us have two display adapters it doesn't know which one to use.

My computer specs:

Sony
UCG135XEUM
Intel Pentium III 1.19 GHz 32-bit
Intel 82830M (with Graphics Controller-0 and -1

Friend's specs:
ATI MObility Radeon 5650 graphics card
Intel i5 64-bit

If you need anymore information out of either of us just post what you need.

Did you mean graphics cards by display adapters? Have you tried disabling one of them in the BIOS?

I called it a Display adapter in one of the programs Windows came with. I checked the BIOS and it had a primary and secondary IDE adapter. The secondary one said 'none' however I don't know what 'IDE' is.

If you are trying to Install 10.10, I read somewhere that 10.10 is not compatible with processors older that pentium 4... so you might wanna check that out.
