Is anyone available on AIM or ICQ to discuss some of my questions? I have a windows 7 version right now on my laptop, but someone screwed me over and put a 'non genuine' version and now its slowly starting to glitch out on me. I can re install windows but Im sick of it and would rather run Ubuntu. My scripts are not running correctly on this glitched out version of windows anyway.

I just have some simple question regarding the switch over from windows to Ubuntu, if a guru could please contact me asap, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Jon

It is not probably different to switch fro Windows to Ubuntu.Ask what kind of questions do you have and someone will answer you.You should be more specific then "I have questions".

Hi

Your best bet is to post your questions here and you will get the benefits of the experience of more than one person.

Otherwise have a look at IRC channels for Ubuntu.

Kind regards

You'll be fine. :D

Ubuntu 10.10 (http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download) GNOME
Kubuntu 10.10 (http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu) KDE
Opensuse 11.4 (http://software.opensuse.org/114/en) GNOME/KDE
...would be your best bet. They are the most user friendly and already have everything you need. Browse the internet to find need-to-know technical information. Getting used to Linux will take some time, but it is an awesome OS when you know how to use it to your advantage. Many Windows games can be played on Linux too. You just have to know how to configure Wine to run them. When you get to know Linux a little more I recommend Arch Linux with xfce or kde. I am about to switch to it myself. :P Don't be afraid to browse the internet for answers or ask questions. (^_^)

"Is GNOME or KDE better?" They are pretty much the same. They have minor differences. If you're looking for the best, either or would be a great choice.
