I have been using Ubuntu since Feisty, always as an early adapter. I am now on Natty. This is an embarrassing problem.
After installing the latest Update, EVERY panel has disappeared. The Unity 3D panel on the side, top panels, everything. All I see is the desktop. Terminal does not come up - The alt-f1 and alt-f2 commands don't work. I don't know how to restore the panels or access programs. (I was only able to open Chromium because I have a bookmarks file on the desktop.)
How do I restore panels and access applications?
This is pretty urgent.
