I need to know if the hdtv out port on these cards is really an svideo port. What I really want is just the svideo port function.

I think you can use a cable that takes hdtv out and splits it into 3 port composite connection for the tv.

something like this I suppose. Although I dont know if that is the correct cable. some seven some 9 pin.
But I really just want that hdtv port to be useful as an s-video port.

Yes, they're svideo. I use mine all the time. I still have a CRT tv so hd movies off the computer look pretty decent on the old tv.

The Nvidia X server settings program detects the tv when plugged in too.

that is good to know. So how high up the chain can you go for Nvidia and get that port. I did find this
http://cgi.ebay.com/EVGA-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-260-896P31257AR-GDDR3-SDRA-/230597114897?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item35b0a8bc11

which mentions hdtv out.
GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked

1 x HDTV output, 2 x DVI-I (dual link) - 29 pin combined DVI, 2 x VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15) ( with adapter )

Here you go - specifically says svideo in the multi view pics.

Looks like 400/500 series have hdmi instead of svideo

I've got a 210GT with HDMI, DVI and VGA out, no Svideo. The card i have is no longer available, but it's similar to this (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57604&vpn=N210-MD512D3H%2FLP&manufacture=MSI%2FMicroStar&promoid=1280)

From what I understand, s-video is not HD, that is what the DVI (video only) and HDMI (video and sound) out are for. Also, component video (RBG) is superior to s-video and can handle 720p.

NO. hdtv & s-video is not the same thing.

You would have to check each individual card.

from what I think, is this.
These cards have a round port, some of these round ports are 7 pin, some 9 pin.

The 7 pin you can plug in a 4 pin svideo cable directly.
The 9 pin you use a 9 pin adapter which has svideo out plug and 3 video colored plugs green, red, blue for composite out to a 720p HDTV.

After this you move up to HDMI ports. You can get an adapter to convert DVI out to HDMI out, as you can also get an adapter to go from DVI out to VGA out.

I have a 9 pin plug adapter and a vga adapter. My 8400 GS I can plug the 9 pin adapter in and get svideo output. I know because I have done that.

how can I adjust the v4linux colors?
cant open need to adjust!
