My Dad tried to install Ubuntu on an old machine and it said "this kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: cmov
unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.".

WinXP installs fine.

I think it is an AMD 500.

I think you are trying to install 64-bit Ubuntu and your PC is probably 32-bit capable and not 64-bit. Download the 32-bit version here.

looks like the CPU might not support an instruction that the current kernel Ubuntu uses requires. You might want to try another distro, or a earlier kernel.

It works great!

I have 9.04 on it.
