hi.
i want to install ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop.when i boot from the disc,i see a menu which has some choices such as running it live or full install&... but when i enter to start the installtion or even start it live, nothing appears except a black screen...
i changed the boot options of the disc(i entered all of 5-6 choices in options menu as i didn't know which one i should change!) & after that when i enter to install ubuntu or live start up,i can see ubuntu icon and progress bar and just after that i encounter a message which says:
"no init found try passing init bootarg"
i don't know what to do:-s help me plz...

Hi,
what type of laptop are you using? What are it's specs?

Hi and welcome. (both)

Pretty much what Slaint said -> specifically what graphics card do you have and how much RAM?

First, it helps to say what computer you're trying to install on.

Second, there is the slight chance that your cd/dvd didn't get burnt correctly. The solution to that is to burn another one. If THAT one doesn't work, your downloaded image could be corrupted.

Sorry, maybe the sleep deprivation is kicking in but I don't know what you mean :?

Do you know how much ram you have and which graphics card?
