Intrepid 8.10 x64 problems with updating software/hardware

Hi!

I have recently switched back to Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 x64 because my ATI Radeon Mobility x1600 is working correctly only with this distribution.

But when I want to update software/hardware it can only fetch 72 of 105 "update files", then I get this message below:

Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I believe there are some problems with the update servers. I have tried many other servers from other countries, but no luck.

I was wondering if someone could help me, so that I could update my software to most recent versions.

support for Intrepid was dropped on april last year.
since then, they no longer provide updates and moved the repositories to http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists (you could try editing the /etc/sources.list file to that address but you wont get any new updates since april 2010)
