Hi,
I installed ubuntu 10.10 and selected my /dev/sda3 partition to be mounted as /home, however, the installation program formatted the partition (I did not check the format box). Now I have lost 300 GB of data. What I am mostly concerned with recovering are graphics (raster and vector) and documents. The rest I can live without. ANY help is welcomed. I have tried photorec which I will keep running despite the segmentation faults I keep getting, but it just gives me odd chunks of data.
I am currently running as the root user to avoid writing more to partition. Doomsayers need not comment.
