I'm trying to install 10.10 x64 from a USB hard drive to my computer. I used the installer from pendrivelinux.com (Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.3.4.exe) to make it bootable and copy the image over.

I can boot no problems but during the install I get as far as choosing a keyboard layout then it trys to detect a CD drive to copy the install files from which of course doesn't exist as the computer doesn't have one (hence the USB install) and so it gets stuck.

Any ideas?

I gave up and made a USB CD drive from an IDE CD drive and an IDE -> USB hard drive case :D

hmm if you have a cdcase, makesure no CD is there present, looks to me there is? i had such error
try unetbootin and syslinux then it might fix the problem

In my case, the system didn't have an internal CD drive, hence the need for some form of USB install.
